The Dodgers won the season opener against the Giants by a score of 2-1. Kershaw was brilliant, recording 7 scoreless innings, 9 Ks, 4 hits and a Walk. Lincecum also pitched a gem, but it just wasn't enough to get it done. This was, in part, due to very sloppy defensive play on the part of the Giants. A sixth inning blunder by Posey and the Panda led to Matt Kemp scoring the first run of the game. Kemp would also score again in the 8th on a James Loney RBI. Broxton came in to close and after giving up a homer, I thought it was all over. What happened to him?!
If this were hockey, Id award the three stars of the game to 1) Clayton Kershaw, 2) Tim Lincecum and 3) Matt Kemp.
I made a few errors on my scorecard. I am am terrible about remembering things like, a Fielder's Choice counts as an at bat, but not a hit and that Walks are neither a hit nor an at bat. Ugh.
Win number 1 for Donnie Baseball!
